Spell check has made most people lazy when it comes to spelling words correctly. Knowing there is a method to identify and correct spelling errors, the user does not have to worry about that until the document is finished. The last task is usually one final spell check. Once the spelling is considered correct according to the spell checker, the document is complete. Some spell checkers allow the user to add words to the dictionary. The user has to be sure the word is spelled correctly before it is added to the dictionary.

As the text is typed, the free PDF editor will highlight misspelled words with a red squiggle under the word. It is possible the spell check will identify a correctly spelled word as incorrect if the word is not in the dictionary. The free PDF editor will offer alternative spellings and the user can choose can choose the correct word if there is more than one option offered. The spell check can be executed at the end of the editing session, or it can be executed intermittently as the text is being edited. Additional words can be added to the dictionary as necessary by clicking on the "add to dictionary" option. This is useful for adding technical terms not commonly found in standard non technical dictionaries.

The free PDF editor spell checker will also identify extra spaces between words and offer the option to eliminate those spaces. The spell checker will also identify extra spaces in contractions and commas in the wrong place and words that should be hyphenated.

Another very handy edit in the free PDF editor, is the ability to change colors of lines and text. The colors are changed by the group and not individual element. If the image in the PDF is the color red, the red can be changed to blue, but everything that is red will be changed to blue.

To revise the colors in the free PDF editor, select the color to be changed then select the new color. The preview box will change the colors and the user can review the change before accepting the change. The user will also be allowed to change a range of colors. The color changed will only be applied to the page in edit mode. If similar changes have to be made on other pages, the pages will have to be changed individually.

The free PDF editor also allows the user to change colors to black and white or to the equivalent grayscale. When converting colors to black and white, all the colors will be turned to black while white lines will stay white. When converting colors to gray scale, the lighter colors will be turned to light gray while darker colors will be turned to dark gray or black. The user can preview the color change before accepting the revision as final.

The brightness and hue can also be changed suing the built in saturation slider. The colors will be brightened or darkened by sliding the tab to the tight or to the left. The change can be observed as the slide is being moved.
